Haversack, General Service, Pattern 1854. Made from hessian, linen or canvas.Although designated "Camp Equipment" and issued to both Mounted & Dismounted services for use of carrying rations.

Pattern 1867 has only minor alterations to the design, mainly, the strap, which has brass fittings for strap adjustment. Also has a brass button on the back so it could be rolled up when not in use. In 1865 haversacks were no longer designated "Camp Equipment" and became standard issue for the soldiers personal kit.

Made from Canvas or Linen and Painted black for Rifles regiments.

My haversacks are either made from new or recycled cancas to the original pattern. Machine sewn.
